FAMILY ABUSE CENTER

Waco, Texas

The Family Abuse Center is located in Central Texas.  No one is ever turned away if the shelter is full.  Once the women and children are safely behind the shelter's bullet proof glass, they can begin to put the pieces of their lives back together again.

As a result of the recent storm conditions in Texas, the shlter has been damaged.  Pipes have burst, ceilings have collapsed and there has been a lot of flooding.  Thankfully, they have water, heat, electricity and most important of all, everyone is safe!

They need our slippers!  Let's get moving!

PET COZIES

** Pet cozies may be knit, crocheted or sewn and must be washable.  Knit or crocheted blankets should be a tight weave, fairly thick (use several strands together or a single strand of #5 or #7 yarn).  Suitable fabrics are denim, flannel, heavy cotton with batting between layers and stitched from corne to corner so batting doesn't bunch up when washed.**

Haven House Family Service Center

South Sioux City, Nebraska

In 1978 the American Association of University Women and Wayne State College staff determined there was a need for domestic violence services for victims of domestic violence and their children. The Wayne Police Dept. provided after hours contact and continues after hour contact today.

Haven House is dedicated to the elimination of violence against women, men, and children through empowerment, education, social action, and support services. Community education and prevention were emphasized from the beginning of Haven House and continue to be important today.
