CHALLENGE #17-2022 is Complete

CHALLENGE #17-2022

Unalaskans Against Sexual Assault and Family Violence (USAFV)

Unalaska, Alaska

USAFV is located in beautiful Unalaska, Alaska, about 800 miles southwest of Anchorage.  Unalaska is accessible only by air or sea, so our community is small and isolated, but is also one of the most diverse communities in the state of Alaska, if not the nation.  People from all over the world come here to work in our fishing and transportation industries.

USAFV operates a 24-hour crisis line and a very small shelter. USAFV provides crisis intervention; shelter; safety planning; personal support; legal and other systems advocacy; information and referrals; and other services that improve the quality of life in Unalaska/Dutch Harbor.    Our target population is those who have experienced or witnessed domestic or sexual violence, child abuse, elder abuse, stalking, incest, other crimes. USAFV strives to provide services to all those who seek them; to increase awareness and prevention of interpersonal violence, sexual abuse, other violent crimes, and suicide; and to advocate for health and well-being.

Due to the size of the shelter and limited storage, they have requested specific amounts and sizes. They are excited about Happy Hands as they have a small library and some of the books are about learning to knit and crochet!!
