CHALLENGE #39-2021 is COMPLETE

CHALLENGE #39-2021

Tundra Women's Coalition

Bethel, Alaska

The Tundra Women's Coalition is located in Bethel, a community of about 6,500 residents in the Yukon-Kuskokwim Delta area of Alaska.   In 1978 the first shelter was opened in a renovated quonset hut.  In 2009 they received a grant to build a new state-of-the-art shelter.

An anticipated 20% cut in their federal funding in the near future will mean a significant loss in services.

The winters are long and hard in Alaska.  Let's send warm and toasty slippers to warm lots of toes and hearts!  We upped the numbers so they will have enough to last all winter.

If you do not want to have to worry about shipping costs but would like to contribute to this challenge,  gift cards are welcome so that shelters can select supplies they need.   Tundra Women's Coalition has requested Amazon cards only due to their remote location and limited local stores.

We are off to Alaska!

*If you can use shades of purple, to make your slippers, to represent Domestic Violence Awareness Month that would be great!  NOT mandatory.*

CHALLENGE #37-2021

Safe Space

Butte, Montana

Safe Space, Inc. began as a grass roots movement in the early 1970's by local women to address the needs in the area. Out of this endeavor, Safe Space was born and began addressing the complex needs of domestic violence and sexual assault survivors. Community education and awareness campaigns provide clients with the tools needed to break the inter-generational cycles of violence, and helps in recognizing that control of their lives.
