Everyone whose lives have been effected by violence should have access to services that promote healthy and safe relationships. Safe Shelter is committed to assisting individuals in their time of crisis. They provide a 24 HR toll-free crisis line. They strive for excellence in their efforts to make a difference in the lives of victims of domestic violence and sexual assault.

10 Large Eyed Yarn Needles – DONE
**You may send used knitting needles and crochet hooks but please do not send plastic knitting needles if they are bowed or bent. No 14" knitting needles.
** Worsted or bulky preferred. No partial skeins or balls.
**Knitting needles, 8" or 10", single or double point. Circulars are fine too.
**Preferred sizes for knitting needles are 7, 8, 9,10, 10 1/2, 11.
** Crochet Hooks. Preferred sizes are G, H, I, J and K.
**Scissors: All scissors should be children's blunt tipped scissors.
If you don't want to have to worry about shipping costs but would like to contribute to this challenge, gift cards are always welcome so that shelters can pick up supply they need. Gift cards from Walmart and Amazon would be appreciated.

In November 2019, Victims of Violence Intervention Program (now known as Artemis House) celebrated 40 years of serving people affected by domestic violence and sexual assault in the Northern Black Hills Area of SD. The need was discovered in 1979 when a survey was conducted to assess the need for direct services in the area of South Dakota.

DAIS is very interested in the knitting/crocheting supplies.  They use it as part of their life skills group or as part of emotional safety planning coping skills. By providing them with the basic items needed to learn these skills, we can help them achieve their goals.

Haven of Hope domestic violence shelter – A secure, 24 bed emergency shelter for people fleeing domestic violence. Services include support groups, safety planning, legal advocacy, information and referrals, and a 24-hour crisis hotline.
Kids Count – Kids Count provides support, education, and advocacy to youth ages 0 to 24 who have experienced neglect; emotional, physical, or sexual abuse; or have witnessed violence. This advocacy can include educational resources, emotional support, safety planning, crisis intervention, referrals, and information regarding healthy relationships, increasing coping skills, and other related topics

Grace Smith House is a private nonprofit that provides residential and non-residential services to victims of domestic violence and their families. We offer shelter, counseling, transitional housing, advocacy, safety planning, preventive education and more to residents of Dutchess County, NY.

Their mission is to enable individuals and their families to live free from domestic violence by proving shelter, advocacy, counseling and education.
