CHALLENGE #11-2022 

Crossroads Safe House

Fort Collins, Colorado

Crossroads Safehouse first opened its doors to the Northern Colorado community in 1980 when it offered four rooms to victims of domestic violence.  Crossroads is now housed in a 29,000 square foot facility with 31 rooms serving victims and their children every day of the year.  Their team of 35 dedicated staff works hard to provide services including access to their emergency shelter with therapy, advocacy, legal advice, food, clothing and much more.

After learning that we would also donate yarn, etc. Laurie's House started a new healing group. "We are so grateful and so excited to launch a new crochet / healing group. I love the calming, grounding, meditative quality of crocheting! I'm very willing to teach any survivor who would like to learn. I will certainly keep you posted on how it's coming along."
In FY 2020/21, 74 people were provided safe housing and support emergency housing through their motel program for a total of 4903 bed nights.

PET COZIES
Pet blankets may be knitted, crocheted or sewn, but must be washable. Knit or crocheted blankets should be a tight weave, fairly thick (use several strands together or a single strand of #5 or #6 bulky yarn.) Suitable fabrics are denim, flannel, heavy cotton with batting in between layers and stitched from corner to corner so the batting doesn't bunch up when washed.
