Haven House Family Service Center IS COMPLETE

In 1978 the American Association of University Women and Wayne State College staff determined there was a need for domestic violence services for victims of domestic violence and their children. The Wayne Police Dept. provided after hours contact and continues after hour contact today.
Haven House is dedicated to the elimination of violence against women, men, and children through empowerment, education, social action, and support services. Community education and prevention were emphasized from the beginning of Haven House and continue to be important today.

Pet blankets may be knitted, crocheted or sewn, but must be washable. Knit or crocheted blankets should be a tight weave, fairly thick (use several strands together or a single strand of #5 or #6 bulky yarn.) Suitable fabrics are denim, flannel, heavy cotton with batting in between layers and stitched from corner to corner so the batting doesn't bunch up when washed.

In May 2010, the Battered Women’s Project became the Hope & Justice Project. We felt the new, more positive name would help us better reach out to people who need our services and perspective. We changed our name, but not our 30-year mission.
We help people whose family and dating relationships are affected by abuse and violence. Our educators provide presentations and training to help create a community that promotes happy, joyful relationships.
