Year-to-date Totals - April, 2014

Our latest challenge for the women and children at the Crisis Center of South Suburbia in Illinois, was a great success......108 pairs of slippers and 75 washcloths pledged in just three days!   Our talented slipper-makers are just the absolute best!   We will probably hold off for a week or more before posting another new challenge to give everyone a chance to get caught up on all of the pledges they have made recently....and we have had a lot of them....one after another....and you all have come through with flying colors!

Just to give you an idea of how well you all have done so far this year, here are our current numbers (and it is only mid-April):

  2,097 pairs of slippers
1,600 washcloths
donated to 17 different shelters across the USA!

If you like to sew, crochet, or knit, we would love to have you join our ranks and help warm the hearts and toes of women and children living in shelters across our country. If you sign up at the bottom of our blog with your email address, you will receive our most recent blog post when it is published.  You can also see many photos on our Facebook page under "Photos" and "Posts by Others".

A "Thank You" from our Current Shelter Challenge!

This is a message from Kerri at the Crisis Center of South Suburbia, our current challenge.

"Thank you to the Pink Slipper Project and all of you who are rising to the challenge. The Crisis Center is so grateful! We provide over 400 women and children each year with emergency shelter and over 2,000 clients per year with other essential services like counseling, court and hospital advocacy, dating violence prevention, partner abuse intervention and transitional housing. We just celebrated our 35th Anniversary this month and over 55,000 women and children have now been reached with our services. Thank you for making a difference! Can't wait to start receiving packages!"
      ---- Kerri Gruca-Twietmeyer

Following is part of my response to Kerri:

"Kerri, We are pleased and proud to help the Crisis Center. You thanked us for making a difference. We thank you for helping your clients start a new life. As you will see, your challenge is almost fully pledged........"     ---- Rachel, PSP Coordinator

Our current challenge is almost fully pledged! We only need 11 pairs of women's slippers to finish out this challenge. Won't you pledge a pair today!
