***NEW*** CHALLENGE #42 - 2016

This is the last challenge we'll be doing until after Christmas.   Maybe Santa can load his sleigh with slippers of all sizes, colors, and descriptions and for the top of the pack, he can take armloads of washcloths. We are guaranteed smiles from all the folks waiting for them in Ashland, Kentucky.

We are making our first visit to Kentucky and we will return there,too. We have toes towarm and save some warmth for souls,too. We hope to brighten a day with our warm andtoasty slippers.

Challenge #40 - 2016 for the Mid-Minnesota Women's Center has now been completed.  We would like to thank everyone who pledged to make slippers, washcloths, and pet blankets for this shelter.  

We are moving along in our effort to break last year's record of 40 challenges.   Our next challenge will break that record and we are hoping to do several more before the holidays.

Please check back often for a new challenge or sign up down on the right side of the blog to receive our posts in an automatic email.  Sometimes the emails don't go out till the day after a post is put up, so if you are interested in pledging a challenge, be sure to check back on the blog for updated figures.  Most of our pledges are through the Facebook page, but we try to keep the blog updated as often and as quickly as possible when the challenge is active.

***NEW*** CHALLENGE #40 - 2016

MID-MINNESOTA WOMEN’S CENTER - Brainerd, Minnesota

****CHALLENGE HAS BEEN COMPLETED****

The Mid-Minnesota Women’s Center has been empowering women & children since 1978.  The Women’s Center program is a 24-hour emergency shelter for battered women and their children.  In addition to physical safety, the shelter provides personal advocacy, information & referral, support groups, and education for the larger community about violence and its effects.  The Alex & Brandon Child Safety Center provides safe visits & exchanges for children.    They also have a program set up to accept family pets, also.

For this shelter, we would like to provide slippers, washcloths, and pet blankets as follows:

SLIPPERS  (Use generic colors, except for women’s & teen boys, for children’s slippers!)

***NEW UPDATE***

Challenge #39-2016 for the House of Ruth in Baltimore, MD, has now been completed. Thank you, Alinda R., for taking the last three pairs of preteen slippers for this challenge!

We are coming up on a very busy time of year for everyone and we know you all are probably working on your own personal projects, too. However, we are hoping to get in at least three (3) new challenges to break last year's challenge record.  With everyone's help, we just know it can be done!

****NEW**** CHALLENGE #39 - 2016

HOUSE OF RUTH
Baltimore, Maryland


HOUSE OF RUTH - Baltimore, Maryland

*****  CHALLENGE HAS BEEN COMPLETED  *****

This is our first shelter in Maryland. Look for more in the future. House of Ruth has an on-site health clinic. The School of Nursing at John Hopkins University staffs the clinic. The shelter has 23 bright and cheerful bedrooms (84 beds) and 6 transitional apartments for those who are in need of a place to stay. Their 90+ staff members are there to help those who come from an abusive situation to one of peace and safety.
