We have completed our last challenge for 2016 and we broke our record from last year with the number of challenges completed.   This couldn't have been accomplished without the hard work and loyalty from ALL of our Pink Slipper Project members and we thank you from the bottom of our hearts for being a part of it!

We (Rachel, Lynne, and Judy) will be on a break between Thanksgiving and Christmas as far as posting any new challenges because, not only are we very busy this time of year, but we know that all of you are very busy, too!

We will continue to post on our Facebook page during the break and, if anyone has any questions or suggestions, please feel free to ask away!  Your answer may not come immediately, but we will try to respond as quickly as we can.

Rachel has two shelters already lined up for our first challenges of 2017......so, hopefully, all of our members will be refreshed and ready to go after the holidays.

We would like to take this opportunity to wish all of you a very thankful Thanksgiving and a wonderful Christmas, Hanukkah, or Kwanzaa filled with lots of love, family, and happy times!

With tons of "thank you's" and lots of hugs,
Rachel, Lynne, and Judy

Good afternoon!   This is Judy.  I am one of the PSP Assistants and I endeavor to keep the blog up to date with all the latest challenges that we post over on our Facebook page.   However, from time to time, life just gets in the way of my computer time.   In my absence here at the blog, there have been three more slipper and washcloth challenges and a Cozies challenge for pet blankets.

A new challenge - #31 - for Vera House in Syracuse, New York, will be posted here very shortly.   It is a small challenge, as the shelter does not have a lot of storage space; so, the slippers will go quickly (no washcloths requested this time)!

So, stay tuned and I hope you will jump in with your pledge in a comment below.  It will come to us in an email.  If the category you pledge has been filled already over on the Facebook page, we will let you know as soon as we can.

As always, if you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask us!

CHALLENGE #26 - 2016

CHILDREN’S INN - Sious Falls, SD

*****CHALLENGE COMPLETED*****

This is our first shelter in South Dakota and hopefully not the last.

Domestic violence shelters are expensive to operate as you can imagine. Expenses from the usual operating costs are increased by the need for safety for everyone....not just the women and children in shelter. but the staff and volunteers as well. All shelters will have one or more layers of security to keep everyone safe and secure.

Shelters receive funding from state and local sources. In addition to that, many large corporations make grants also. Among them are the United Way, Mary Kay, Microsoft and many others. Through their generosity, shelters such as Children's Inn are able to provide services to help those who may no longer have a home due to domestic violence.

For Children's Inn, we will need:

25 women - DONE

8 preteen girls - DONE
8 preteen boys - DONE

CHALLENGE #25 - 2016

SAFEHOUSE CENTER
Ann Arbor, MICHIGAN

**** CHALLENGE COMPLETED ****
“Stop the cycle and make our communities safer.
At SafeHouse Center, we’re thrilled to join the Start by Believing Campaign this year. Start by Believing is an international campaign organized by End Violence Against Women International, and for the first time a Washtenaw County coalition has been formed to develop a county-wide campaign.

Start By Believing, is a nation-wide public awareness campaign uniquely focused on the public response to sexual assault. Once a survivor reports an assault, each individual’s personal reaction is the first step in a long path towards justice and healing. Knowing how to respond is critical– a negative response can worsen the trauma and foster and environment where perpetrators face zero consequence for their crimes.
The goal is to change outcomes for victims, one response at a time.”

For SafeHouse Center we will need:

35 women ----- DONE
  5 teen boys/men ---- DONE
  6 preteen girl ---- DONE
