At the request of the shelter, most of the slippers needed are for women.   Due to the small number of slippers for children, please use neutral colors if you can.   There are no washcloths with this challenge.


For this challenge, we will need:

CHALLENGE #37 - 2017

THE AVALON CENTER
Crossville, TN

****CHALLENGE COMPLETED****


We recontacted The Avalon Center in Tennessee to see if they were in need of more slippers and washcloths and the answer was a resounding “YES”. Their shelter is full and they expect it to remain that way for quite a while. They also have a pet program and we sent pet blankets the last time. Those furbabies need to be warm and cozy, too, so we are also including them in this challenge.
The following is what we would like to request for them:

CHALLENGE #36 - 2017

GATEWAY BATTERED WOMEN’S SERVICES
Aurora, Colorado

****CHALLENGE COMPLETED****

Gateway is one of the first shelters in the nation to establish a Court Advocacy Program to coordinate criminal justice and the domestic violence services system in Aurora.


We would like to send slippers and washcloths to them.  They also have a pet program in place and we are adding in our Cozies for Pets (blankets/mats), too.

In the combined categories (preteens, youth, etc.), please use yarn colors that would be suitable for either girls or boys.

CHALLENGE #35 - 2017

GRAMMY'S HOUSE

The shelter is full at Grammy’s House!  They are also full of furry friends, so let’s send Cozies for Pets, too.  Grammy’s House loved the slippers, washcloths, and cozies (blankets) we sent last year and they can use more.

COZIES FOR PETS


Remember to use multiple strands of yarn (worsted or bulky yarns) and also to use as small a hook or needle that you can so the blanket will be tightly stitched. For sewn blankets, several layers of washable material is needed. If using batting, please stitch from corner to corner, etc. to secure the batting for the washing and wear the blankets will get.
