CHALLENGE #17 has been completed! Thanks go out to Jan O. for taking the last seven slippers.
This is an AMAZING group of volunteers who are willing to give so much of their time and talents to provide some warmth and caring to women and children (and, yes, occasionally, men, too) who have left most of their personal belongings behind when fleeing to a shelter for safety.
Stay tuned........Rachel will be posting a small Cozies for Pets challenge for the same shelter sometime over the next few days.

*****CHALLENGE COMPLETED - 5/19/15)
Back in 1976, a group of women came up with an idea for a Women's Community Center; however, before they had opened their doors, the local police department contacted them and asked if they would provide shelter to a woman and her children who were fleeing a DV situation. As a result of that call, th...e Center was officially opened as "Refuge House". After moving to several different locations, they moved in 1987 to a more spacious location. On October 6, 1992, Robert Bolton, an Eau Claire police officer, was responding to a domestic abuse call at the shelter.
